As Commercial Manager Europe at DSM Advanced Solar, Jörn uses his technical and commercial PV expertise to help apply DSM’s innovative materials technology to solar projects across the continent. He comes to DSM with a degree in civil engineering, as well as an executive MBA.
After starting his career at BMW and Deutsche Bahn in Germany, Jörn joined SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification company, in 2003. He started as Laboratory Outsourcing Project Manager for their Semiconductors on-site FAB operations in Europe, before being promoted to Global Business Manager Photovoltaics in 2010. In 2014, he became International Business Development Manager Electricals and Electronics of SGS Benelux. He started his current role at DSM in October 2019.
Over the past ten years, Jörn has been involved in more than 100 PV-module type approval projects. His teams have served the solar industry’s whole supply chain globally, including manufacturers of materials, products, and systems, as well as owners or stakeholders such as EPCs, banks, investors and insurers. As a consultant, Jörn is recognized as an auditor, due-diligence professional, and service inventor.
Across Europe, there are GW of solar projects and portfolios which would benefit from repowering but the attention and the money is largely flooding into new build. The repercussions could be stark in the event of a severe health and safety issue but moreover, companies could be benefitting from much higher-yielding assets.
