Arun Narayanan

Arun Narayanan is the Chief Digital Officer of RES since 2023. RES is a leading renewable energy company that delivers wind, solar, and storage projects worldwide. In this role, he leads RES’ digital transformation strategy through the development and deployment of innovative new products and solutions that solve customer’s biggest challenges and increase energy yield.

Arun is a seasoned digital leader with over 26 years of experience in data, analytics, and technology across various industries, including oil and gas, mining, and renewable energy.

Previously, Arun was the Chief Data Officer of Anglo American for more than 5 years where he led a groundbreaking digital strategy. He was responsible for building their data analytics platform, VOXEL, the Vision of Operational Excellence in mining where they connected assets, processes, and people in a new “digital thread” across the value chain to create a digital twin of the entire mining environment to improve performance, safety and improve sustainability.

He was also with Schlumberger for more than 21 years, focused on building and executing the best-in-class software for the oil and gas market. The last role there was VP E&P Data, Schlumberger Software, which was to define and build the industry’s first E&P data lake encompassing exploration, development & production. Arun has held various technical and management positions within Schlumberger in the US, Europe, and in Asia. He has, in the past, been responsible for product design, development, and marketing. He also was the general manager for the software businesses in India and Malaysia.

Arun holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mumbai, a master’s degree in computer science from Iowa State University of Science and Technology, and a master’s degree in business from both the University of Houston and the University of Texas at Austin.
