Craig Knowles

Craig is the Power Generation Team Leader at Zutari, an infrastructure and advisory consultancy operating across Africa and the Middle East. He has extensive experience across a broad range of technologies, including wind, solar PV, hydroelectric, pumped storage, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid projects.

His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and detailed design through to commissioning and operational performance audits. In the solar PV sector, Craig has ~15 years of experience in utility-scale projects, providing specialist services across all stages of development, including transaction advisory, detailed design, failure analysis, and post-commissioning performance assessments. Craig has been closely involved in South Africa’s major utility-scale independent power producer procurement programmes, including REIPPPP, RMIPPPP, and ESIPPPP.

He has also contributed to numerous large private offtake projects, as well as energy trading platform and aggregator assignments. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is a professionally registered engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
