Juan Ignacio González Ruiz

Juan Ignacio González Ruiz is a partner in the Madrid office of Uría Menéndez. He joined the firm in 1988 and became a partner in 1998. He was resident partner in the firm’s London office between 1995 and 2001.

Juan Ignacio’s practice is focused on banking and finance, energy law and project finance. In London, Juan Ignacio advised leading international investment banks on setting up products for, and deals in, the Spanish market, while retaining direct involvement in all areas of energy law. In the wake of the recent liberalisation of Spanish energy markets, Juan Ignacio has advised on many legal “firsts”, particularly relating to energy supply and trading, third party access to electricity and gas infrastructures and the development of new CCGT plants and renewable energy projects.

Some of Juan Ignacio’s most significant transactions include advising investors on the acquisition of stakes in hydrocarbon logistic companies and on the acquisition of power transmission and gas distribution assets.

Juan Ignacio was named a Leading Lawyer in the last editions of International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers and Best Lawyers in Spain for energy, project finance and natural resources.
